Call for Participants: Higher Education IT Career Experiences Study

A call for participants exploring higher education IT career pathways, lived experience, and leadership development.

Many of you know me from my years working in higher education IT. As I finish my doctorate at Colorado Technical University, I am conducting a qualitative research study on career experiences in higher education IT.

This study explores how professionals in higher education IT experience:

- Middle-management engagement

- Mentorship and sponsorship

- AI-enabled or automated tools used in hiring, evaluation, or advancement decisions

The purpose of the study is to better understand how these factors shape recruitment, retention, and career advancement, particularly for professionals whose experiences are often overlooked.

You may be a good fit for this study if you:

- Are 18 years of age or older

- Work in higher education IT, or in an HR or equity-related role that supports IT talent processes

- Have at least one year of experience with hiring, performance evaluation, mentoring, sponsorship, or related talent practices in higher education IT

Participation involves one confidential interview conducted via Zoom, lasting approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Only audio will be recorded. Video will not be recorded. Participation is entirely voluntary, unpaid, and confidential.

If you are interested in participating or would like to learn more, please message me directly on LinkedIn or email me at Leon.Lewis48@student.ctuonline.edu.
